Well, the year is passing fast, festival season is almost over, and the combine feelings between being happy and nostalgia around what has been a great year in music festivals had us traveling to one of America’s favorite festivals, Austin City Limits. We’ve had the opportunity to go a couple of ACL’s years ago, the people, the place, the city, the bands, the vibes make Austin City Limits one of our favorite festivals to go.

Traveling in car or in airplane, you can see the people happy, knowing they will be having one of their best weekends of the year. Years ago when people talked about Austin they would quickly mention ‘music.’ But that’s just the beginning of what they’re saying these days. Austin is also home to a wonderful ballet, world-class museums, one-of-a-kind shopping and an amazing duality between natural landscapes and large builidings, making it one of the most growing cities of the US.

Friday arrived, and with that, day 1 from ACL 2018. We start our day at 3:30pm on the Honda Stage, watching Børns play, as we were walking through the large area, we discover bands that we don’t planned to see, Greta Van Fleet, Fickle Friends and Manchester Orchestra, to stop by and eat, cause’ the rest of the day was going be wild. Food at ACL offers a variety of options, some american style classic hamburgers, pizzas.

Sitting in the grass is always an option to chill out and relax before your next favorite bands comes out, and there you go, next on the board, Sir. Paul McCartney. Watch one of the greatest musicians alive is a once in your life experience. Every dollar from the tickets was worth it, the energy Paul has, and takes that to the stage and to the crowd. From classic The Beatles songs the his new ‘Egypt Station’. We say goodbye to day 1 with a lot of childhood memories with Paul McCartney.

Next day, Saturday, day 2 from ACL 2018. It was a beautiful and hot day out there! Starting our day rocking out with Deftones, event though their sound wasn’t the best, a ‘buzzing’ cable was crashing the songs for 30 minutes, then it change it was perfect, the energy Chino Moreno has, is iconic, one of our favorite performances. It was time to dance, and for it, 2 experts came down, one at Barton Springs Stage, the other at Honda Stage, Latin American artist Residente, which he mixed the songs from his debut solo album with Calle 13 songs, making it a perfect set for the sunset time, and then, it came it all for Justice, between classic and new songs, the electro duo had us dancing all the hour of their performance, if you came to ACL and watch Justice, I’m pretty sure you ‘stressed out’ with the vibe and energy from the band and the crowd. Then, it was time for the headliner of the day, and what a performance they had! First time from Metallica at the festival, it was one great move from C3 Presents to include a band like Metallica to their books. Everyone knows the kind of show the band has, and this time it wasn’t the exception. Fireworks at the end of their show, marked the end of day 2.

Sunday, the third and last day of ACL 2018. Between tired and excited for it, and never wanna leave this place. To get started, we watch the performance of Phoenix, one of the last headliners announced, they replaced very well the absence of Childish Gambino, an indie rock a fresh and ‘dance’ vibe went all the way at the Honda Stage. Illenium was the next artist we saw, getting cool dancing and be preparing for the grand closing band, Arctic Monkeys. The live act from them gets back and forward from the classic hits and new hits. The show from Arctic Monkeys has been one of the best closings from festivals, a nice and clean performance with a great crowd that gave all from them, and the band did the same at the stage.

One of a kind festival, the Austin City Limits 2018 gave us a great weekend, surrounded by great people, great music performances and a great city, see you next year Austin!
