On Wednesday (March 14th), the platform hosted the Official Big Break Artist Showcase at SXSW this year for the very first time. Announced just last December, Bandsintown’s Big Break is a data-driven emerging artist program, it identifies artists who have grown the most between 100 and 5,000 Bandsintown trackers within a 6 month period. Then, artists receive promotion across Bandsintown’s digital network, in customized editorial, in-app features, brand partnerships, touring, special showcase opportunities, and social media promotion. When the program launchedlast year, Peach Pit‘s manager, Tristan Orchard said: “Bandsintown is really valuable in ensuring the group’s fans know about upcoming shows and it’s really awesome they’re supporting emerging artists.”
