Mimicking Birds today shared a new video for the track “Sunlight Daze” from their acclaimed new LP, ‘Layers of Us‘, out now.

The twisted and darkly humorous video sees a stranded merman captured by an onlooker and exploited for social media likes, highlighting the hypocrisy and unwillingness from those in places of power to enact positive change upon human-caused issues. Director Jeremy Cloe says: “The idea of a Sunlight Daze is what struck me the first time I listened to the song. I imagined someone stranded in the desert, not understanding how they got to that point. There’s something dreamy and surreal about the song that I wanted you to feel in the video.

“We were inspired by environmental and social themes from the record and knew with Luke Jones starring we could push it in that direction while still having fun with an absurd, but sincere idea.”

The band also announced upcoming festival performances at Sasquatch, SXSW, and Treefort.
