Rare Nirvana demo tapes have surfaced after Tacoma musician, John Purkey, shared them on Youtube. He claims Kurt Cobain personally gave him the tapes between 1988 and 1990. One tape includes Bleach demos recorded during the band’s first ever session in 1988 at Reciprocal Studios in Seattle.
In the videos, Purkey says he played in several Tacoma bands during their early years, watch Nirvana develop from scratch, and that he kept the tapes hidden for years. Listen to the whole backstory below.
In total, the tapes stretch over two hours; he audio quality is not the best but it’s still listenable.
