With one of the best lineups of the year, Austin City Limits took place at the incredible Zilker Park, in the live music capital of the world. With first-class headliners like The Killers, Gorillaz, Jay-Z, Chance the Rapper, and Red Hot Chili Peppers (yes, FIVE headliners) it was a weekend packed with the greatest music, in one same place.
Food options went form delicious tacos, tamales, hamburgers, tons of vegan options, ice cream. Spending the entire day at ACL was no challenge when you have everything you need to eat and drink.
It was an emotion weekend, with the tragic events that recently took place at Vegas. Also, the death of a legend, Tom Petty. Of course, many bands paid tribute in their own way. Foster the People closed their set by performing a cover of John Lennon’s “Love“.
The Killers modified their set and began playing Tom Petty’s “American Girl“.
Thirsty? No problem. We enjoyed an entire area dedicated to beer, with dozens of different options. Tired of beer? We also had a huge wine house. You could taste from a single glass of wine to an entire bottle of red, white or pink wine.
It is always difficult to choose which was our favorite act. Perhaps Ryan Adams (below)? Or maybe Spoon… who were performing at their hometown.
But to be honest, there was one act that blew our minds completely…
I know, the photo is a bit far away. But even though Jay-Z was playing at the other side of the festival, thousands of fans gathered at the Honda stage to see The xx delivered a glorious set that ended with Jamie XX’s “Loud Places” and “On Hold“.
We have covered several times Austin City Limits. If you ask me, what has changed over the years? Well, I remember when ACL first launched its second weekend. It was an opportunity for people who didn’t get tickets to enjoy the festival a week later.
But now, it is different. The second weekend is now a chance to enjoy the festival all over again because one weekend is not enough for you to enjoy so many acts, so many food options, and many other experiences that make this festival one of the greatest.
As the weekend ended, we couldn’t stop thinking of being there next week. Unfortunately, we didn’t plan it, but that’s okay. There will always be another ACL next year. Two actually…
Thank you, Austin!
