During the first day of Austin City Limits festival, we witnessed epic performances, delicious food, and a wide variety of drinks that went from beer, wine, and vodka.
Our day began with Andrew MacMahon in the Wilderness, who as always delivered a show full of joy and positive messages.
Crystal Castles, Ryan Adams, and Foster the People got the crowd ready to receive the day’s main headliners. It caught my attention that Mark Foster’s voice sounded incredibly good. The band is getting better and better at their live shows. As a respect to the victims of the Vegas tragedy, the band didn’t play their most famous song “Pumped Up Kicks”. The band, however, has already enough great songs to deliver an excellent set. Mark Foster ended his set by performing an emotional cover of John Lennon’s “Love“.
Martin Garrix played at the HomeAway stage before the headline acts. No wonder why he is the No.1 DJ at this moment.
The night finally arrived. It was time to choose between Jay-Z or The xx. We chose the latter, and they didn’t disappoint. They mentioned how nervous they were when they were told that Jay-Z was playing at the same time. But thousands of fans, including us, wanted to see them perform live. They were the best act of the day. Their set ended marvelously with Jamie XX’s “Loud Places” and the band’s “On Hold“.
