Due to an approaching storm and warnings from the National Weather Service, Lollapalooza organizers and the City of Chicago have ended the first day of the festival early.

Festivalgoers were evacuated from Grant Park and were directed by staff and the Chicago Police Department to pre-established underground evacuation and shelter sites along Michigan Avenue.

Muse, who was the headliner of the first day, performed 3 songs before being asked to leave the stage. A few minutes later, the evacuation announcement was made. Matt Bellamy came back quickly to the stage to say goodbye to fans.

Day 2 of the festival is expected to continue normally.
