Los Angeles based four piece The Shelters today unveil the video for their debut single “Gold” – a sun-drenched hit of psychedelic tinged garage rock and roll.

The music video for “Gold” sees the Los Angeles-based band, comprising Chase Simpson, Josh Jove, Sebastian Harris, and Jacob Pillot team up with legendary music video director Mark Pellington (Bruce Springsteen, U2 and Leonard Cohen). The video is complete with a glamorous pool party, a dimly lit recording studio, desert landscapes, a field of wind turbines, and a bathtub filled with gold.

The band have also recruited actress Juno Temple (Atonement, Maleficent, Vinyl) to play a surreal, mysterious Mad Max-like character in a Californian wasteland.

Co-produced by the legendary Tom Petty, the band’s shimmering soundscapes gradually seep into the listener’s’ consciousness. Filtered with guitars, eerie synths, mellotron strings and a shifty percussion that effortlessly melds classic The Byrds harmonies with MGMTs contagious psychedelic melodies.

The Shelters conjure a sound that is dotted with some notable Avant-rock icons whilst weaving together a thrillingly contemporary forward-looking sound. Formed in 2015, The Shelters had only just banded together when Petty heard them and instantly recognised their raw potential. He gave The Shelters the keys to his home studio, allowing them space and time to form their own identity in the process.

Currently cementing themselves amongst the latest wave of ones-to-watch in the US, The Shelters are in the middle of a frenetic 2017 touring schedule, with support slots confirmed in the US with Royal Blood and in Europe with The Lumineers – plus festivals like Lollapalooza, Bottle Rock, British Summertime Hyde Park, Spain’s Azkena festival and performing ahead of Kaiser Chiefs at this year’s Goldcoast Oceanfest.
