Austin-based singer/songwriter/producer Mobley is making a name for himself with his boundary-pushing “post-genre pop”. As was announced this morning, he will be a part of ACL Music Festival in October, but next month he’s heading to NYC for a four-week residency in support of his single, “Tell Me”.

“I wrote this song thinking that it was about a relationship between two lovers,” says Mobley. “After I finished it, I realized that it was also about the relationship between a man and his country. ’Tell me what you want me to be.’ It’s been really important to me because it’s an approach that now shapes everything I write.”

From the start, Mobley’s work has been marked by solitude and an obsessive drive. He cut vocals in the woods behind his dorm, mixed records in a sedan, and sneaked into the music department after hours to learn new instruments. Mobley writes, produces and performs every note of his music so that he can fully capture the sounds and concepts he’s after.

Nowhere is his passion more palpable than in Mobley’s imaginative one-man shows. He’s thrilled audiences at hundreds of tour dates across the U.S. and abroad. He has shared stages with the likes of Phantogram, JUNGLE, Mutemath, Robert Delong and Wavves, and played festivals like SXSW, CMJ, Savannah Stopover and Float Fest, to name a few.

For those outside the NYC area, Mobley will be touring throughout the summer, crisscrossing the U.S. and even hitting Mexico before returning to Austin for ACL. A full list of tour dates can be found below, with more to be added soon.
