Tor Miller shared today a new video for his latest single “Surrender“, lifted from his forthcoming debut album ‘American English‘, available 30th September via through Glassnote Records.
Directed by Meghan Doherty and shot in New York, “Surrender” is an intimate moment with a musician who has gone through something of a transition in the last 18 months; from piano-bound to stage front and center under the glare of spotlights. The video is a dramatic three minutes of intense performance, rich falsetto and an artist unavoidably realised.
Following the intimacy of prior single “Baby Blue“, here Tor is at his most bombastic, backed by grandiose horns and drums. Speaking of “Surrender” Tor said:
“In a musical environment where most of the songs are minimally arranged and pristine, I wanted Surrender to sound expansive and brash. The production is unapologetically cacophonous, and that’s what I love about it. With every listen I can’t help but think back to working in the studio for weeks overdubbing whatever we could think of to make the song sound even bigger.”
Tor has recently concluded a full US tour alongside Nordic charmer Aurora, and will announce details of UK dates imminently.
