May 15, 2016 :: 02:21 PM EDT

For the first time, we will be covering NYC’s Governors Ball Music Festival, and we couldn’t be more excited. The greatest city in the world will be hosting top level acts and the best emerging bands out there. Three days full of great live music, people, food, and fun.

As we always do before each festival, we like to make a list of the best 10 acts that we certainly don’t want to miss. Here they are:

10. Transviolet
Their song “New Bohemia” is a summer anthem that must be heard. This NYC/LA band will be the perfect way to begin with day 1 of Governors Ball.
When? Friday 03 – 12:15 p.m.
Where? Honda Stage
Gotta listen: “New Bohemia”, “Girls Your Age”

9. The Knocks
Best known for their single “Classic”, this electronic music duo consisting of Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson will change your mood to party-mode at 2pm.
When? Saturday 04 – 2:15p.m.
Where? Bacardi House Stage
Gotta listen: “Classic”, “Kiss the Sky”

8. Albert Hammond Jr.
Son of the amazing composer Albert Hammond, and member of one of the greatest alternative bands – The Strokes – Albert Hammond Jr. proves with is music that he does not depend on anyone to make great music.
When? Saturday 04 – 3:00p.m.
Where? Honda Stage

7. Miike Snow
Andrew Wyatt keeps evolving with each album he releases. His latest, ‘iii’, is the best indie pop you’ll ever hear.

Where? Big Apple Stage
Gotta listen: “Animal”, “Genghis Khan”

6. Cold War Kids
Their latest album was released back in 2014, but that doesn’t mean they are not worth seeing. With 5 albums in their career, they cannot longer be called a “small band”.
When? Sunday 05 – 3:00p.m.
Where? GovBall NYC Stage
Gotta listen: “First”, “Something Is Not Right WIth Me”

5. Courtney Barnett
This Australian artist, nominated for a Grammy for her debut album, is taking over the world with her music. Rock music at its best.
When? Sunday 05 – 5:45p.m.
Where? Big Apple Stage
Gotta listen: “Pedestrian At Best”, “Depreston”

4. Death Cab for Cutie
When Death Cab For Cutie appears on a festival, there is no way you can miss them. The problem? They overlap with Kanye West.
When? Sunday 05 – 9:15p.m.
Where? Honda Stage
Gotta listen: “Soul Meets Body”, “Crooked Teeth”

3. Catfish and the Bottlemen
This UK band will be releasing their sophomore album just a few days before playing Governors Ball in NYC. They remind me of Arctic Monkeys at their early days, even though their music sounds very different.
When? Saturday 04 – 3:00p.m.
Where? GovBall NYC Stage
Gotta listen: “Kathleen”, “Homesick”

2. The Strokes
New York’s greatest band of all time? We don’t know. But we certainly won’t miss them playing in their city with a set full of already classic songs and alternative anthems.

Where? GovBall NYC Stage
Gotta listen: “Reptilia”, “You Only Live Once”

1. Jamie XX
It is no surprise that he won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album for his album ‘In Colour’. He may be no headliner just yet, but he is definitely at the top of our list and should be in your’s too.
When? Friday 03 – 8:00p.m.
Where? Bacardi House Stage
Gotta listen: “Loud Places”, “SeeSaw”
